Tube sleeping Should airport hotels be worried? I just finished looking at a model of this new European idea. They are being planned to be installed in airports at this time, and seem to be quite popular for short time rest during airport layovers. They are currently in use in a Moscow hotel where they are a sanctuary of rets. I will presume that in time they will show up a USA airport. The pod as it is called is about 7 feet long by some 3 feet wide. Has memory foam mattress and led lighting, what more could you ask for.
Considering that at more time than I care to remember there have been times when you have been stranded at an airport for 8 hours or more. Pod hotel would be nice, you could rest while waiting for the plane that may never take off or that is always late.
The price is considerably less than any hotel outside of an airport, it reported that five nights in a pod is cheaper that one night at a local hotel. If one is staying just one night over a business trip, and don’t mind some minor adjustments this just might be the ticket. Look at the time saved in getting to the airport and through the long lines.
Hospitality innovating, or reinventing itself, if so what will be next on the horizon? I don’t know how popular they may be at USA airports? I guess that we will have to wait and see them when they get installed. It will be interesting to see how this concept develops. John Grey the founder of podtel’s say’s that they are about to infiltrate the industry in a major way.
